On May 29th, the Cromwell Las Vegas — a boutique landmark occupying one of the most coveted corners of the Strip — permanently closed its doors and reopened as the Vanderpump Hotel, Lisa Vanderpump’s first hotel property. Sandtastic Travels documented the transformation with a rare before-and-after walkthrough, capturing the final hours of the Cromwell and the first reveal of what replaces it.
From Parisian Apartment to French Estate: The Room-by-Room Transformation
The Cromwell’s signature classic king room ran 360 square feet and leaned into a Parisian apartment aesthetic — berry tones, hardwood floors, a Hollywood vanity mirror mounted above a pink velvet chair, and a dedicated makeup station across from the bed. The bathroom featured granite countertops, a modern rain shower with a handheld option, and a discreet toilet closet. Warm and stylish, it was a deliberate departure from the oversized, impersonal rooms that dominate most Strip properties.
The Vanderpump Hotel keeps the same 360 square feet but reimagines every surface. Pops of pink and olive replace the berry palette. A floor-to-ceiling forest mural anchors the wall behind the bed, which is framed by a dark charcoal velvet headboard with a silver geometric frame. Lisa Vanderpump described the design intent directly: ‘I wanted you to open the door of the hotel room and really feel like home — calm colors, soft finishes, but still with that snappy masculine edge.’ Custom bedside tables incorporate reflective surfaces positioned to catch Lisa’s own image, a signature detail she confirmed was intentional. All furnishings are bespoke pieces selected by Vanderpump herself, prioritizing both durability and the illusion of spaciousness in a compact footprint.
One of the most anticipated upgrades involves the building’s exterior ledges, which have always appeared to be balconies from street level but whose windows never opened. The Vanderpump Hotel has converted select windows into functioning balconies with direct sightlines to the Bellagio Fountains across the street — a feature that places the property in rare company on the Strip, where The Cosmopolitan has long been celebrated for its balcony rooms and Paris Las Vegas only recently added them to its Versailles tower.
Sole Rooftop, Suites, and Opening Rates
Above the 188 guest rooms, the former Dre’s Beach Club rooftop has been entirely redesigned and rebranded as Sole, a 65,000-square-foot rooftop day club rising 11 stories above the Strip. The space features three pools, nine bungalows, cabanas, panoramic views, and full DJ programming on weekends. The basement-level Dre’s after-hours venue remains in place, unchanged.
The property’s 21 suites range from mid-tier options up to the Royal Rascal suite, which includes a pool table, an eight-seat dining table, sectional seating, a soaking tub, and a steam shower. Opening night rates on May 29th — a Friday — reflect launch-night premiums, but mid-June Saturday nights are running between $205 and $287 for a Strip view, with weekday rates dropping to approximately $187. Caesars Rewards Diamond Plus members are already seeing eligible rates as low as $117 on select dates.
As Sandtastic Travels noted, Caesars typically protects rates on newly opened properties before comp offers begin flowing through the rewards system — a pattern consistent with every other Caesars property on the Strip. Giatas restaurant, the on-site Starbucks, the casino floor, and the sportsbook all remain operational through the transition. A new Vanderpump cocktail lounge is confirmed but details have not yet been released.
Lisa Vanderpump described the project plainly: ‘To have a boutique hotel on the Las Vegas Strip was something that I could have only dreamed of.’ With 188 rooms at the intersection of Flamingo Road and the Strip — directly across from the Bellagio — the Vanderpump Hotel represents a significant expansion of her Las Vegas footprint, which already includes Pinkies by Vanderpump at the Flamingo next door. Boutique hotels account for a growing share of Las Vegas’s competitive lodging market, and a property of this scale and location, backed by a nationally recognized hospitality brand, positions the Vanderpump Hotel as one of the Strip’s most closely watched openings of 2025.
