David Guetta stepped onto the Tomorrowland 2026 MainStage and within seconds a crowd that stretched far into the Belgian night had both arms above their heads. This is what the world’s most-attended electronic music festival was built for: a single artist, a massive stage, and a shared memory that crosses two decades. For the hundreds of thousands packed into the grounds, this set was not just a performance. It was a reunion.
Home is what he called it
Guetta wasted no time setting the emotional temperature. ‘I’m so happy to be back home with the family,’ he told the crowd early in the night, and the phrase landed with the weight of something genuinely meant. He pushed the energy immediately, calling for more from a crowd that was already at full volume. ‘I need more energy. Hands up. Let’s go.’ The field responded like a single organism, hands rising in waves toward the stage.
The set moved through a dense run of recognizable records. Lyrics from what sounded like ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ rolled across the field, the crowd singing back in full voice. ‘Scream and Shout’ hit next and the crowd’s response made the call-and-response sections almost unnecessary. ‘I Got a Feeling’ arrived as an arms-up, chest-out moment that felt genuinely inevitable by that point in the night. Throughout, Guetta kept the interaction tight: left side up, right side up, hands in the back, no one sitting this one out.
A new collaboration and a 20-year milestone
Mid-set, Guetta pulled back the momentum just enough to make an announcement. He introduced a brand new project called Man Machine, made with his friend Martin Organ, and invited him onto the stage. ‘This is for the party people, for the ravers,’ Guetta said. ‘If you love electronic music, make some noise.’ The crowd obliged with enough volume to suggest they did.
Earlier in the set a brief exchange played out between Guetta and someone offstage, a quick back-and-forth that ended with the words ‘you mean this one’ and a track that sent the crowd into an immediate, full-body reaction. Its arrival was unmistakable.
The emotional peak came when Guetta addressed his own history at the festival directly. ‘When I released this record, it was the very first Tomorrowland and I still remember,’ he told the crowd. ‘And more than 20 years later, we’re still together here. Because we won’t stop ever.’ The words fell over a crowd that had been dancing for hours and somehow found another gear.
The hands that stayed up
Near the close, a slower lyrical passage moved across the field: ‘Just a little more love, just a little more peace. It’s all it takes to live a dream.’ The crowd held it, singing in fragments, swaying in sections.
Guetta finished with a thought that matched the mood of the whole night: ‘I just want to thank Tomorrowland for bringing us together, because it’s all about this right now. Honestly, that’s what the world needs. Love and music to be together.’
Twenty years on from the first Tomorrowland, those hands were still in the air.
